New Year, New You

I know I'm a little late with the wishes but Happy New Year!

Everyone makes resolutions that usually have to do with looks and hopefully you're sticking with them! Today's post is dedicated to someone that can help:

I had the honor of doing a shoot for/with
Master Cosmetologist Talisa of Champion Stylez.
She specializes in natural hair, weaves and overall healthy hair care. Some hairstylists don't do their own hair because they're busy doing everyone else's but I must say, "Gorgeous", as I call her, looks like this all the time so you know you can trust her!

You can check out some of her work below, shot by yours truly as well.

A new hairstyle can do wonders for your confidence and overall look so
call Talisa and make your appointment today!

BET Hip Hop Awards '12: Style Lounge

Leading urban men's fashion retailer DTLR partnered with brands like Akoo, New Balance, Puma, and more to bring a one-night only event to five different cities where their stores are located. Because the BET Hip Hop Awards was filmed here in Atlanta, as it has been since its inception, it was only right that their series of event kicked off here!

Each guest was VIP and entry was only allowed via RSVP through the website and twitter campaign. Upon arrival guests were photographed in front of the (), given wristbands, had complimentary food and drink passes- Hennessy was flowing all night (so you had to be 21 and older to enter). Atlanta's "People's Station" V103 was on site as Greg Street broadcasted live and DJ Kash was on the 1s & 2s.

There were TONS of giveaways including $150 Akoo gift cards, swag bags in which 10 lucky people were given New Balance vouchers to get on their website and design their own shoe, Hennessey gave away sunglasses, barbers were on hand giving shape-ups and famed stylist Middleman gave style tips with looks from Akoo & BBC in a mini fashion show.

It didn't stop there. The guests had the first look at this year's cypher and celebrating the release of his album "Food & Liquor II" was Chicago's own Lupe Fiasco. Each guest also went home with an autographed copy of the LP.

The BET Hip Hop Awards, hosted by Mike Epps airs Tuesday October 9, 2012 8/7c

Travel Tips... Cruise Edition

I'm back again with some travel tips, this time, for a cruise...

I was in Miami a couple weeks prior to setting sail. While on a boat ride, my ship, Carnival Liberty, just so happened to be in port...

Because I was part of a wedding, I got to board the ship before everyone else but I'm sure some of the same rules apply.
  • Just like a flight, we had to check bags and were only able to have a carry on and personal item. Our bags were delivered to our stateroom (P.S. tip the porters. not sure if this helped get my bag delivered any safer or quicker but I felt that way lol) Check with your cruise line ahead of time to get baggage details.
  • Passports! Although not essentials for certain ports but definitely good to have with you.
  • Voltage adapters: the stateroom we were in only had so many outlets available. I was mad I didn't think to bring a couple with me (being that I used them in France) since my roomie & I both had electronics but we made do.
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent: although it was October, the sun was still blazing. Water and sweatproof screens are best. As far as insect repellent, while on the boat, we were issued a letter letting us know that one of the islands we were traveling to had potential for disease-carrying mosquitoes so I'm glad out of the 4 of us that were cruising together (aside from the newlyweds) had these essentials
  • Ointments: This fell right in line with repellent bc someone got bit (and a couple of us broke out) and someone else had cortizone lol I also like to have a first aid kit- band-aids, Neosporin, alcohol pads, Advil etc.
  • Seasick meds: this was my first cruise but I didn't get seasick at ALL. I only felt weird when we actually got off the boat and walked around. They provide them on board but you can bring your own.
Cruising is an awesome experience (to be continued)
